Trekking discovery of Makay - Madagascar

This 16-day course, including 8 days of trekking, will make you discover the Makay with its rivers, peaks, forests and steep canyons. You can also discover the local fauna with its lemurs.

D1: Arrival in Antananarivo

Meet your guide and transfer to hotel. Night at the guide's.

D2 to D3: Antananarivo - Miandrivazo - Makay village

RN7 towards Miandrivazo. Last night in a real bed! The next day allows us to appreciate the Malagasy tracks which brings us closer to the Makay.

D4: 1st day of walking

Beginning of the walk with your feet in the water. Possibility to see lemurs and parrots. In the evening, aperitif at height to enjoy the panorama.

D5: Morondava river

The landscape changes for this day: stony plateaus and canyons of sand are on the program. Bivouac on the bank.

J6: the cerebellum

Hike in a maze of dry canyons in the middle of tall grass and bamboo. Then ascent for a 360 ° C view, on the bowels of the Makay massif: Le Cervelet! Return to the Bivouac.

J7: Mahasoa river

Walk in the canyons before a "technical" descent to reach the river bed for the Bivouac. Silence is to be preferred for the observation of lemurs and other Yellow-billed Kites.

J8: Borilambo

Walk with your feet in the Mahasoa river before joining the forest to observe the fauna. Then again, descent into the bed of a river: the Beora. Reaching a sandbank on the bank: Borilambo. Bivouac. Possibility to observe the Microcèbe (small nocturnal lemur).

J9: Base camp

After a few river descents and a forest crossing, we reach the beginning of the Menapanda forest and the Naturevolution base camp. Bivouac.

D10: Menapanda forest

The day is devoted to its discovery, with its fauna. Bivouac.

D11: Makay Massif - Makay village

Free morning followed by lunch. Last trekking link to reach the village of Tsivoko in 4 hours. Meeting with the village chief followed by a dinner to the sound of Kilalaka. (Bara traditional music)

D12: Makay village - Bemana

Departure by 4x4 on track to reach the bush town of Beroroha. Crossing the Mangoky river on a canoe and bivouac on the sandbank.

J13: Bemana - Ranohira

9h 4x4 connection to the city of Ranohira and the RN7. Views of baobabs, crossing of villages and view of the Isalo massif, a spectacular spectacle! Dinner and overnight at the Relais de la Reine hotel: Swimming pool, comfortable bedding and refined cuisine.
 ## D14: Ranohira - Sarodrano
4x4 track along the banks of the Mozambique Channel after passing through the sapphire town of Illakaka. Then, arrived at the Eden eco-lodge residence located on the sandbank of the village of Sarodrano, after a last stop on the Tropic of Capricorn line. Dinner and overnight at the eco-lodge.

D15: Sarodrano

Possible excursions with the hotel. We recommend hiking with the viewpoint overlooking Sarodrano, the Mozambique Channel and the mouth of the Onilahy River. Then crossing the village of St Augustin and pirogue ride in the mangrove while observing the colonies of pink flamingos. Welcome by the local village association in music before lunch. You are offered a visit to the village before returning to St Augustin, still in a traditional sailing canoe where your driver is waiting for you. Dinner and overnight at the eco-lodge.

J16: The return
