This trek offers a discovery of Ecuadorian nature through the wealth of Andean fauna and the landscapes of these cordilleras and volcanoes.
Day 1: Quito - El Inga: Polilepis forest - Camping
One hour transfer by jeep to the Inga, where the guides will be waiting for us with their horses. 3 hour hike to the Bois de Polilepis, where we will camp at 3400 m.
Day 2: Polilepis wood - Mortepungo - Camping
After breakfast, 5-6 hour walk to the site called "Muertepungo". During this trip to the lagoon, we will be able to see rabbits, wolves and several birds like the American kestrel and even condors. Inside the Antisana Reserve, there are coyotes, glasses bears, and other mammals and birds. The Andean landscapes in this area are spectacular. Campsite at 4100 m.
Day 3: Muertepungo - Plaza de Armas - Santa Lucia Lagoon - Campsite
Ascent to the Plaza de Armas peak (4500 m), approximately 4 hours, then 2-hour hike to the Santa Lucia Lagoon. This lagoon is intermittent: it disappears in summer and reappears in winter, thanks to the rain. Campsite at 4300 m.
Day 4: Santa Lucia - El Tambo - Bath of Papallacta
5 hour walk to find the jeep. Transfer to the thermal complex of Papallacta where to rest and enjoy an unforgettable night in the hot springs of PAPALLACTA.
Day 5: Papallacta - Tambopaxi
By road from the Andes, 3 hours by jeep to the Tambopaxi hostel, located in Cotopaxi National Park at 3750m. It is one of the most beautiful landscapes at the foot of the Cotopaxi volcano. In the afternoon, visit the Jos Ribas refuge at 4800 m and, weather permitting, walk to the glacier. Overnight in Tambopaxi.
Day 6: Tambopaxi - Chugchilan
Travel approximately 3-4 hours to the city of Chugchilan for a short hike. Night in a small hotel.
Day 7: Chugchilan - Quilotoa - Baños
Short walk to the bottom of the crater to the lagoon named after the active volcano "Quilotoa". Lunch in Latacunga and in the afternoon following the trip to the city of Baños. Night in a hotel.
Day 8: Baños - Quito
The picturesque town of Baños located at 1800m invites you to enjoy its charms and its surroundings. We will even see the entrance to the Amazon rain forest. In the afternoon, return to Quito. End of our services
