Kilimanjaro - Lemosho route and safari - Tanzania

Lemosho is one of the most beautiful routes to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. Sloping gently, it is also the most accessible. And after the ascent, enjoy the Tanzanian wildlife with a short safari.

D1: Kilimanjaro - Moshi Airport

Reception at the airport (JRO) and transfer to the Key’s Hotel lodge in Moshi (1h).

D2: Londorossi Gate (2360m) - Mti Mkubwa Camp (2895m)

Breakfast then briefing and checklist with your guide before leaving for Londorossi Gate (2h drive). Check in at the main door and meet the team. Departure to cross the tropical forest that envelops the mountain. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp
Walk: 3 to 4 hours - 6 kms

D3: Mti Mkubwa Camp - Shira 1 Camp (3.500 m)

Discovery of the Moorland region. Steeper ascent, for a different climate: savannah before entering the Shira desert plateau. View of Kilimanjaro. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp.
Walk: 5 to 7h - 8 kms

D4: Shira 1 Camp - Moir Camp (4. 190 m)

After a relatively long walk with a significant drop, arrival at Shira 2 Camp for lunch. Continue to Moir Camp. The lava tower stands there in the middle of a rocky, semi-desert landscape. Overnight at Moir Camp.

D5: Moir Camp (4190m) - Barranco Camp (3950m)

A day of acclimatization with a trek to the base of the lava tower at 4500m. Descend through the Senecio Forest and its waterfalls to reach Barranco Camp for the night.
Walk: 5 to 7h - 12 kms

D6: Barranco Camp - Karanga Valley Camp (3995m)

Today's challenge: the 150 m from the Barranco wall! Arrival at the camp. Dinner and overnight rest at Karanga Valley Camp.
Walk: 3 to 5h - 7 kms

D7: Karanga Valley Camp - Barafa Camp (4600m)

After breakfast and a picnic en route, continue the ascent through the glaciers to reach Barafa Camp. Last step before the final ascent at a slow and steady pace to preserve yourself for the next day.
Walk: 3 to 5h - 6 kms

D8: Barafa Camp - Uhuru Peak (5895m / SOMMET) - Mweka Camp (3100m)

Wake up early (1am) to begin the ascent to the summit, through the Rebman & Ratzel glaciers. Arrival at the summit. Magic moments, to share with the team.
Descent to Mweka Camp for the night.
Walk: 11 to 14h - 17 kms

D9: Mweka Camp - Moshi

Final descent to reach Mweka Gate and receive your certificate. Green will be awarded to those who have reached Gilman’s Point while those who have reached Uhuru Peak will be awarded the gold. Transfer to Tulia Hotel & Spa in Arusha at the end of the day.
Walk: 3 to 4 hours - 10 kms

D10: Lake Manyara National Park

Transfer (2h) to the park at 8:30 am to start the safari. The lake is a paradise for birds (more than 150 species), but also shelters lions and monkeys in particular. Road in the late afternoon to reach the Karatu Tented Lodge.

D11: Ngorongoro conservation area

Road to join the area (1h). Passage along the crater crests before going down to the caldera. Possibility of seeing the last spotted black rhinoceros and other animals of the famous "Big 5" (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinoceros and buffaloes). Return to the lodge at the end of the day.

D12: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at the lodge, departure by 4x4, to reach the park (2h). It is the favorite residence of elephants. During the dry season, animals congregate on the banks of the Tarangire River. Possibility to observe them in full mud baths: herds of elephants, but also wildebeest, zebras, lions, gazelles, leopards etc. Day on safari in the park before joining the Baobab Tented Camp in the late afternoon.

D13: Departure - Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)

Transfer (2h) to Kilimanjaro airport. END OF PROGRAM.
